Me, Met and My Work

I have chosen this selection of work as I feel it is diverse and displays a range of skills. My portfolio is ongoing and developing through the current projects I am working on.

I feel I now need to broaden my experiences and I think that Manchester would be the place to do this as I feel it is culturally rich. I have visited many times, most recently to see the Dorothy Bohm exhibition at the City Art Gallery. I would like to attend Manchester Metropolitan University as I know the Graphic Design course promotes a varied and “hands-on” yet professional approach and has an excellent reputation. Also I like the way contextual studies is integrated into the course, which is something I have enjoyed during my Foundation Art program as it has aided me in my understanding of the work of others, as well as helping my own work to gain meaning. I am especially attracted to the briefs involving collaborations with external clients; this would give me an opportunity to gain realistic experience of the industry in a larger scale than my work experience at a graphic design and printing shop.

I am passionate about Graphic Design as a whole but I especially like the promotional and advertising sides of it. I am inspired by the work of Neville Brody and David Carson as I like how they use typography as a basis for their designs in order to create dynamic, eye catching pieces. I enjoy watching films of all genres, which I find fun and also inspiring in terms of artwork. I enjoy researching films after I have watched them to find out about directors, background information, characters and the marketing/ branding of the film.

I feel I am a hard working, self disciplined person capable of meeting the challenge of deadlines whilst retaining a passionate commitment for everything I do.
